Arts and Crafts Programming for Your Special Event

Before Your Event

We meet and I hear your vision for what you want for your event. What are your goals for the art activity? Is it more of a reflective, process-based activity, or do you want the final product to look a certain way? We brainstorm ideas, and I share what I think would work best for the event. Next, we finalize the activity and create a list of supplies. We can work with what you may already have, or we can buy new supplies.

Creating Samples and Instructional Materials

After everything has been ordered, I'll come back and make samples of the art activity. I'll time how long the process takes and take notes on any points of confusion or steps that could be simplified. I'll take photos of the sample and the process, take notes, and create an instructional step-by-step sheet that can be used during the event so people have an idea of what they can create.

Day of Event

Typically, the supplies have been ordered to the client's house, so the client will bring the box of supplies to the event venue. I communicate directly with the party planners to coordinate exactly where I should be set up, how many tables and chairs I'll need, whether I'll need tablecloths, if I should be near an outlet, etc. I arrive an hour before the craft activity begins to set up the tables and lay out all the materials.

I've typically run art programming after the reception or service and before and after mealtimes. Arts and crafts programming can be an excellent way to engage party guests who prefer a more chill, quiet activity rather than loud music and dancing.

After the Event

When the event is over, I efficiently pack up the materials, keeping everything organized and neat. I can send over any photos I took of the party guests engaging with the activity, and I'll also send over my invoice for the total hours of pre-work, total hours of the event, as well as any reimbursements for supplies.
